“The more you know, the more you know you don’t know.”

I know this quote is probably supposed to be motivating and all about life’s possibilities since it belongs to Aristotle… But it also just seems to be the exact feeling we sometimes get when we think about our online analytics and how the heck to understand them. šŸ¤Æ

Whenever we get close to the end of the month, it’s the perfect time to chat about analytics. Here are some tips to get you all up in the data:

1ļøāƒ£ Set a reminder for the first day of every month. Eventually, it will become a day you look forward to so always remember because you just want to see your numbers and success growing and growing. But to start, a reminder is a great way to keep you on track for regularly checking analytics. By doing it at the same time every month, you’re comparing the same time period of data to accurately track your growth.

2ļøāƒ£ Keep an up-to-date spreadsheet. How I track my data and all of my client’s data who have analytics services with me is through a good old fashioned spreadsheet. I have sections for each social media platform and web presence, along with key data elements I want to track for each like followers, engagement, reach, etc. Colour coding is my BFF.

3ļøāƒ£ Use the free tools available to you. If analytics services with an agency (pick me šŸ™‹) isn’t in your budget, you can track your own analytics using the free tools you have! Facebook Business Suite, Twitter Analytics, Instagram Analytics, Google Analytics, Google Sheets, etc.

4ļøāƒ£ Don’t stress – they are just numbers. The most important tip. Especially if you’re like me and love words more than numbers. Sometimes all the numbers and terms can seem so overwhelming, especially if they are declining. But don’t let it worry you and create fear of being online.

[side note, does this quote remind anyone else of Friends? They don’t know that we know they know we know šŸ˜‚]
